Biography

Isaac is the Team Lead of the Olaniwun Ajayi LP’s Arbitration practice, and is widely regarded for his expertise in international arbitration, cross-border litigation and international law. Qualified in both Nigeria and New York and trained at Harvard Law School Isaac represents clients in high-value commercial and investment disputes in courts and tribunals including under the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL and ad hoc rules. His recent experience includes representing a UK-based equity fund in a USD20million LCIA arbitration, defending a State in a circa USD500 million energy dispute at the ICSID, acting for a regional bloc in an ad hoc arbitration arising from a supply contract, and representing an energy consortium in proceedings to set aside a foreign arbitral award. Isaac also contributes significantly to international journals. He has published and reviewed for leading journals such as the Harvard International Law Journal, and serves as an executive member of the African Society of International Law and advisory board of the Kabarak University Law Review, in Kenya. Given his multi-jurisdictional training and international experience, including with a global arbitration law firm in Paris, Isaac brings world-class arbitral skills and a global perspective to Nigerian and African disputes, making him one of the most promising arbitration lawyers of his generation.
