The Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) has undergone several changes over the years to create a framework that guarantees better conditions for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. These changes have included the privatization of the generation and distribution of electricity as well as the implementation of several policy reforms.

Therefore, this article aims to provide insight into the legal framework for distributed energy resources in Nigeria, its implications for the NESI and recommendations to highlighted challenges.
