A major challenge for electricity Distribution Companies in Nigeria is the inadequate metering of end-use customers.
This contributes to the Aggregate Technical Commercial & Collection (ATC & C) losses experienced in the electricity sector, often attributable to a lack of access to financing in funding the procurement of meters.
Over the years, several government and regulatory interventions have been introduced to solve the metering crisis, including the Meter Acquisition Fund (MAF) established under the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI).
To set out the parameters for the disbursement of Tranche A of the MAF, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has issued the Order on the Operationalisation of “Tranche A” of the Meter Acquisition Fund (the Order).
