The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC or the Commission), on 30 July 2020, issued the “Guidelines on filing Applications for Competition Transition Charge by Electricity Distribution and Trading Licensees” dated 27 July 2020 (the Guidelines) to primarily provide directions to electricity distribution licensees (DisCos) and trading licensees (which, in the current market context, is a reference to Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET) on the framework for the implementation of competition transition charges (CTC) as contemplated under the Electric Power Sector Reform Act 2005 (EPSRA).
