Since joining the Firm, he has contributed to a variety of financing, construction, project development, and M&A transactions, representing both domestic and multinational clients. With deep understanding of the oil and gas sector, Joel provides insightful transaction advisory, helping clients navigate complex legal and transactional challenges with expertise and precision.  

Relevant Experience

Mergers and Acquisition

• Advised on the acquisition by Seplat, of the entire issued shares Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited and negotiated the transaction documents
• Advising major indigenous oil companies, on the acquisition of upstream petroleum assets, following the divestments by international oil companies, of their onshore and shallow water upstream petroleum assets

Project Development

• Advising indigenous petroleum exploration and production companies in relation to drilling services agreements for the development and wellhead interventions in various oil mining leases
• Advising leading oil and gas companies on several gas sale agreements for the sale and offtake of natural gas, from greenfield and brownfield gas facilities

Financing

• Advised on the financing for a refinery project, as well as negotiating, drafting the financing and security documents
• Advised the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited as sponsor, on a Three Billion Dollars pre-export financing

Regulatory Interface

• Participated in regulatory engagements with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Regulatory Authority and advised leading oil and gas companies on a regulatory compliance roadmap
