On the 11th of February, 2019, the Italian Parliament took a bold step and introduced the first statute which ensures the validity and legal certainty of information and data provided via blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) as well as validity and enforceability of smart contracts, by virtue of an amendment to Decree of 14th December, 2018, a law aimed at simplifying and improving public administration and enterprises’ operations.
