NIGERIAN MARITIME INDUSTRY WRAP-UP 2021

It is beyond cavil that the Covid-19 pandemic had a very deleterious impact on the Nigerian maritime industry in 2020, however measures by the Nigerian government and relevant stakeholders in the industry led to a slow but steady rebound of the industry in 2021. In the course of 2021, there were significant developments in the industry, such as the Court of Appeal’s notable decision on jurisdiction over maritime labour claims, on-going review of critical maritime legislation by the National Assembly, continued efforts by the government to rid the nation’s waters of maritime criminals, etc. In our Wrap-Up of the Nigerian maritime industry in 2021, some of the notable developments in the industry in 2021 are highlighted, in addition to our outlook on possible developments in the industry in 2022
