Biography

Esther is a seasoned legal associate with a strong focus on governance, secretarial practices, and business advisory within the Enterprise Practice Group of the Firm. She provides comprehensive legal and business advisory services to both domestic and multinational clients, with particular expertise in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and business operations within Nigerian customs and free zones. Esther also advises on a wide range of commercial matters and delivers company secretarial services, supporting clients in navigating complex legal and regulatory landscapes.

Relevant Experience

  • Labour and Employment: Advised a healthcare insurance company and a global shipping and logistics service provider on the provisions of Nigerian Labour Laws relating to the process of terminating employment pursuant to an employment contract, in line with statutory requirements.
  • Business Establishment and Legal Documentation: Advises multinational companies on their entry into Nigeria and assisted in setting up their businesses in the customs and free zone territories within Nigeria. Assisted foreign companies in obtaining business permits, certificates of business registration, expatriate quota, import permits, and other licenses required to operate in Nigeria.
  • General Business Advisory: Advised a foreign company on the regulatory requirements for its Nigerian subsidiary to obtain a business permit and increase its share capital, in line with the Handbook on Expatriate Quota Administration.
  • Product Registration: Assisting a Consumer Brands compnay with the registration of 14 imported products—including baby food, oats, and insecticides—with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
  • Company Secretarial: Provided company secretarial services and secretarial support services to organisations—including private, public, and not-for-profit entities—across diverse sectors. Notable clients include Sunbeth Global Concepts Limited, Newrest ASL Nigeria Plc, Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Fidelity Bank Plc and Apples and Pears Limited.
  • Corporate Governance: Assisting a global bank with the review of its corporate governance structure and the development of a comprehensive group-wide framework to ensure alignment with international best practices.
